Combat Sports like Mauy Thai teach coordination, determination, and the mental aspects of fighting in addition to the specific skills and techniques.  All of this combines to better prepare someone to defend themselves, even though training focuses on the combat sport aspects specifically.  Additionally, at Momentum Martial Arts, Mauy Thai Kickboxing can be combined with other martial arts that have specific self defence applications.
